Oshawa, Ontario (September 1, 2010) — Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac posted retail sales gains for the ninth straight month, delivering an 18 percent increase in August, and over 34 percent calendar-year-to-date.
“Our continued momentum demonstrates our four brand strategy is squarely hitting the mark with customers,” said Marc Comeau, GM of Canada’s vice-president of sales, service and marketing. “We’re building a strong foundation for sustainable, profitable growth through segment-leading products and exceptional customer service.”
Chevrolet posted an 18 percent gain in August, led by its stylish and fuel-efficient vehicles including Cobalt, Malibu, and the Canadian-made Equinox and Impala. Excitement around Chevrolet grows as dealers prepare for the much-anticipated launch of the Chevrolet Cruze this fall, already a successful vehicle in over 60 markets globally. Cruze is expected to lead amongst compact cars with respect to content, safety, and fuel efficiency.
Buick delivered a 94 percent increase in August, continuing to win new customers through world class execution. The newly-launched Buick Regal, sharing a platform with the “2009 European Car of the Year,” joined Lucerne, LaCrosse, and Enclave in leading Buick’s monthly growth.
GMC and Cadillac performed strongly as well, with crossovers leading both brands to monthly gains. GMC, led by the Acadia and Ingersoll-built Terrain, delivered 5 percent growth, while Cadillac sales more than doubled due largely to the red-hot SRX. Adding to Cadillac’s momentum is the recent arrival of the all-new CTS Coupe, the latest and most striking of Cadillac’s new designs.
September marks the start of GM’s Canada Wide Clearance Event. With exceptional cash and finance deals available, now is a great time to visit a Chevrolet, Buick, GMC or Cadillac showroom to check out GM’s leading range of award-winning, high-quality, fuel-efficient vehicles.
