Here's a story: Back in 1994, I was 22 years old, 1 year out of college and working for the MTO in Thunder Bay making $40k/year. I was in the market for a new S10 4x4 so I visited one of the local GM dealerships (there were 2 in town). I had studied the different option packages available through the website, and was looking for a quote on a custom ordered unit since they didn't have what I wanted on the lot. First bad sign; none of the salespeople approached me when I wandering in the show room. I actually had to go up to one and ask for help...older fella maybe in his late 50s. I asked him to price me a custom order for an 4x4 S10. He gave me all kinds of resistance, obviously because he was struggling on how to use that big ass book they use to use for this purpose. Then he started telling me I couldn't get this and that together, etc etc. So I told him, thanks for not helping me, and I left. I went home and wrote a detailed email to GM head office about my experience. The next morning, not even 10 hours after my email was sent, the manager of the dealer called me apologizing for my experience and asked me to come down for a coffee and he would work with me to get what I wanted.
It's unfortunate I had to go that route, but I feel it needed to be done. By the way, I didn't see that salesman there when I went the next day.
